[April 18 – May 17 For Experienced Paddlers] 110-minute Canadian Canoe Tour in the Submerged Forest of Lake Shirakawa This is an experience-level canoe tour in the submerged forest of Lake Shirakawa. Only for a short period in spring, melting snow raises the water level of the lake, creating a beautiful submerged forest. This tour takes you by Canadian canoe deep into the forest, beyond areas visible from the park. You will glide between trees, feeling a strong connection with nature and the excitement of exploration. A guide accompanies the tour, allowing you to enjoy the experience safely and with confidence. Photos taken during the tour will be provided as digital data. This tour is recommended for guests with prior canoe or kayaking experience. Basic paddling skills and canoe control are required. Canoe seating Normally, canoes are shared by two people. If the number of participants is odd, a three-person canoe may be used. If you are joining alone or prefer a solo canoe, please select the “Single Canoe Request” option. If there are not enough remaining seats for your group, the slot will be shown as unavailable. We do not accept waiting lists. Insurance Participants are covered by accident insurance during the tour. Additional insurance may be arranged individually if desired. Insurance provider: Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. Changes and cancellations One schedule change is free of charge up to 5:00 PM, four days before the tour date. Changes after this deadline will be treated as cancellations. Please see the cancellation policy at the bottom of the page. Check-in starts 5 minutes before the tour. Please note that this is not Shirakawaso. Traffic congestion may occur during holiday periods. Changing facilities There are no permanent changing rooms. A portable changing tent is available upon request. Parking During the period from April 18 to May 17, a parking fee will apply. Please note that the parking fee is not included in the tour price.

  • Clothes that are easy to move in (water falling from the paddle will get wet especially your pants)
  • Shoes that can get dirty (long boots are also OK)
  • Water (plastic bottle, etc.)
  • Rainwear, winter clothing, and gloves (for rainy or cold days. Mornings and evenings are chilly)
  • Waterproof smartphone cases, straps, etc. (If you drop it in the lake, it won't come back.)
