【April 1 – May 30】 Join a local expert for a 60-minute journey deep into the mystical "Submerged Forest." Discover the hidden stories and natural wonders of this landscape that you won't find just by looking from afar. The tour includes a peaceful moment to pause and enjoy a drink and some sweets while gazing at the beautiful lake. For first-time visitors, learning the secrets of the forest will make the scenery come alive in a whole new way. Experience the "true charm" of Yamagata’s miracle through all five senses. Complimentary photos taken by your guide during the tour will be provided as digital data! *Please note: This is a walking tour, not a canoe tour. ■About Tea Time A tea time session is scheduled during the latter half of the tour. We will provide a drink and a small snack. Please let us know in advance if you have any food allergies. ■Booking Process (Request-based Booking) This tour uses a "Request-based Booking" system. After you submit your application, we will check our guide's schedule and contact you to confirm whether we can accept your booking. ■Changes and Cancellations Our cancellation policy is listed at the bottom of this page. One change to your reservation is permitted free of charge up until 17:00 (5:00 PM), 4 days prior to your tour. Changes made after this time will be treated as a cancellation. ■Insurance Coverage Information We provide accident insurance coverage in case participants sustain injuries due to unforeseen accidents during the tour. Please assess if you need to purchase additional coverage for your needs. Insurance Provider: Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. (Accident Insurance for Event Participants) - Death or Permanent Disability: 10 million yen - Daily Hospitalization Benefit: 5,000 yen per day - Daily Outpatient Benefit: 3,000 yen per day ■Check-in on the Day Please use the restroom before the tour and meet us at the "Iide Canoe Club Cabin." Check-in starts 5 minutes before the tour. Note: The meeting point is NOT Shirakawaso. Traffic can be heavy during consecutive holidays, so please allow plenty of time for your journey. ■Parking Information Please note that a parking fee will be charged from April 18th to May 17th. Parking fees are not included in the tour price. ■Road Closure Notice (Traffic Restriction) The main road to the Submerged Forest area, Nakatsugawa Bridge, will be closed during the period below. We apologize for any inconvenience and kindly ask you to use the alternative route via Suganuma Pass during the restricted hours. 【Road Closure Period】 March 23 – April 24, 2026 (Weekdays only) Closed hours: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM Outside these hours, traffic will be allowed with alternating one-lane control. 【Detour Route】 Via the Tamaniwa Post Office area: Prefectural Route 8 → Prefectural Route 4 → Suganuma Pass → Shirakawa Lakeside Park / Shirakawa-so 【Important Notes】 Please allow approximately 20 extra minutes for travel. The mountain pass road is narrow — please drive carefully and watch for oncoming vehicles. ■Commercial Activities in the Submerged Forest of Lake Shirakawa Lake Shirakawa has been designated under a river space open-use initiative aimed at further revitalizing the local community and economy. In accordance with this initiative, our company conducts tours with the official authorization of the relevant government authorities.
